Wedding Favours that leaves impressions
I get to see all the creative ideas and elements that makes a wedding unique to each couple, but the ones that left lasting impressions had to be those that reflected the couple and the love that they share - where the wedding favours became a part of the storytelling.
So, read on for the top 3 favourite wedding favours (aka bonbonniere) that had helped me tell the couples’ love stories.
Daffodil pin
A donation made towards the Cancer Council by the couple on behalf of the guests, in the hopes that no one else will ever need to go through the same pain of losing someone because of terminal illness.
This is special because it was a subtle way to commemorate the groom’s late father who was diagnosed with cancer. The pin is tiny but the thought behind it was powerful.
Stoneware
A petite round casserole pot - I loved this idea because the message that it gave was consistent with the couple’s desire to start a family. When I see casserole pot, I automatically think the kitchen, a family at the dinner table, and I can smell the aromatic food being baked in the oven and cooked on the stovetop. The couple values family a lot, and feel that the best part of the day is being able to gather at the dinner table at the end of each day, and have a meal together, talk about the day with each other. So I think they wanted to share that vision with their guests and hope that they would feel the “temperature” also! Very sweet indeed!
Themes and Elements
Choosing wedding favours that ties in with the couple’s love story is my favourite. The element may seem small compared to the decorations but it makes a big impact on how it makes the others feel. The wedding favour tells a story for you in a subtle, simple and meaningful way.
Here’s an example: A bottle opener.
What’s so special about it? I hear you ask.
Well, read on.
The couple had met through bike riding club, and the proposal was also carefully curated by the groom, so that the bride just thought that they were going on a big bike ride with a group of friends, but it was actually a surprise proposal. The bicycle played an important part in the milestones of their relationship, and it was only natural to include this “matchmaker” on their wedding day.
The couple included a bottle opener in the shape of a bicycle and also had a real bicycle parked next to the wishing well to complete the look.
As soon as I opened the box which contained this bottle opener and chocolates, I knew that I was in love with this detail. It was a wedding favour that instantly reminded me of their story and I just had to share it with you all.
